Timber Ridge is one of the premier courses for this year’s World Championships. We are happy to announce that it is open for play. Baskets have been installed, tee pads have been staked down, trees have been cut, and this massive course that world champions will be crowned on is waiting with open arms. Make sure to bring sunscreen and plenty of water. Bell’s is served and there are limited snacks.
In the latest registration update we have 608 players signed up. Currently the most players are coming from Michigan with 83, and then California with 54, followed by Texas with 48, and 42 players are coming from outside the US.

Baseball, hot dogs, fireworks, and a chance to win a free trip!
Discraft invites everyone to enjoy a free Kalamazoo Kings Frontier
League baseball game on Friday night. There will be free food, prizes,
on-field disc contests and demonstrations featuring Worlds participants,
and someone will win a trip to anywhere in the continental US, sponsored
by American Airlines. The trip will be given away in a jumbo toss
during the game as a fund-raiser to support our charity, The Starlight,
Starbright Children’s Foundation. Then stay after the game for a great
fireworks show and more Discraft giveaways.
As of June 1, 2008 registration opened to all current PDGA members. After the latest update we have about 500 entrants. There is still time to get in.

The Putting Contest and the other side games will be held at Timber Ridge Ski Area on Sunday, August 10.
This year’s putting champion will be decided by a one-on-one single elimination Chains (horse shoe) tournament.
The court will consist of 1 basket and a line 10 meters away where each player will throw from.
Dave Gentry from the PDGA graced us with his presence for the last few days. I believe this was the last ‘official’ visit from the PDGA before the event. Everything seems to be falling in place. We are headed to check out Ft. Custer (our newest course) this morning. This course will be replacing the anticipated Romona Park course which was voted down by the Portage City Council. There will be 10 courses used for the world championships: Begg Park, Cold Brook Park, Ft. Custer, Kimball Pines, Meyer Broadway (2), Oshtemo Township Park, Robert Morris Park, Timber Ridge, Victory Park.
